Charles DAUGHERTY Obituary


News Death Notice

DAUGHERTY, Sr., Charles Otto 82 of Springfield passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on December 3, 1930, the son of Richard and Mary (DeBoard) Daugherty. Charles was an US Army Veteran. He retired as a welder with D & H Manufacturing with 44 years of service. Following retirement he then went to work for Wal-Mart for several years. Charles was an avid Ohio State, Duke, Oklahoma, and Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved to play Corn Hole, Rook, and Euchre with his family. He also coached Little League and Pre Cub baseball for many years. Charles enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play softball. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church. His survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 56 years Lois Daugherty; sons Charles Otto Daugherty, Jr. and Terry Lee Daugherty; daughter Shari (Mark) Williams all of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one stepson Tommy Conley, whom he raised as his own; and a special daughter-in-law Gidget Daugherty. He will missed by his family. Services to honor Charles will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 2:00PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Pastor John Long officiating. Family and friends may call from Noon until time of services. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com
