SMITH, Charles Chuck Funeral arrangements are complete at the Zoeller Funeral Home for Charles "Chuck" Smith, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday at the age of 57 years. Chuck was a lover of flying planes and was an accomplished licensed pilot. He also had a true passion as being an advocate of the handicapped. Chuck is survived by his mother, Virginia Jenkins Smith; sister, Tamara Strausbaugh; wife, Regina Winand Smith; children, Courtney E. Smith and Sean P. Smith; mother- in-law, Ann Winand ; brothers-in-law, John and Barb Winand of Troy, Ohio, William and Sara Winand of Greenwood, IN. and Tom Winand of Nashville, TN.; sister-in-law, Donna Hook and Greg and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Frank Smith; brother, Nick Charles Smith; father-in-law, John P. Winand and brother-in-law, David Strausbaugh. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Oakwood Baptist Church, 2154 Loop 337 North New Braunfels, Texas. The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to "Able Flight" an organization that helps handicapped people to get licensed to fly. Rae, Courtney, and Sean, we are so saddened with the news and hope you all know how much we are thinking and praying for you. Rae, we will always remember the great fun in Springfield with you guys. Courtney and Sean, we always marveled at the zest for life your father had. We will treasure the memories of his friendship. We know you all will miss him dearly and we hope that he will continue to inspire you, as he has for us, to achieve whatever you want regardless of the adversity you may encounter.
