News Death Notice

RUSSELL, Edward Luther 96, of Urbana, died at 5:35 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Hearth and Home of Urbana. He was born July 25, 1914 in West Liberty, a son of John Wesley and Cora Belle (Newman) Russell. Edward was a 1933 graduate of North Lewisburg High School, a member of Urbana United Methodist Church, Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M. where he was a 58 year member. He worked at the Urbana Post office for 22 years and retired from farming. Edward loved fishing, bowling and socializing. Survivors include his daughter, Betsy Jane Boza and her husband Robert of Urbana, twin sons, Michael E. "Mick" Russell and his wife Mary Kay of Urbana, and Merrell D. "Mack" Russell and his wife Mary of Mt. Vernon, grandchildren, Merrell Russell, Jr., and his wife Penne, Jack Russell and his wife Holly, Andy Russell and his wife Andrea, Amy Sullivan and her husband Matthew, and Jim-Bob Boza and his wife Beth, great grandchildren, Josh Russell, Taylor and Luc Russell, Thomas and Brookelynn Russell, and Caleb and Timothy Sullivan, sister, Hazel Overfield, sister-in-law, Leatrice Russell, brother, Clyde Russell and special friend, Thelma Violet. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Roberta "Bert" (Huddleston) Russell on August 30, 2001, son, Gerry Lynn, his parents, and brothers, Vernon Russell, Richard Russell and John Russell. The family will receive friends 1:00 5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, with Masonic Services at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 18, 2011 in the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Harper and Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Mingo.
