SIMPSON, Francis Alan 67, of Springfield, passed away at 12:07 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006 in Community Hospital. He was born September 6, 1939 in Springfield the son of Joseph David and Florence Margaret (Shepard) (Fenton) Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Park Layne United Brethren in Christ Church, the Air Force Sergeants Association and AARP. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the Air National Guard following 26 years of service. He had been employed at Ohio Steel Foundry, Speco Corporation, the City of Springfield and was retired from Miller Textile Service. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Evelyn (Erickson) Simpson; three children, Alan J. Simpson, Steven Alan Simpson and Julie Fay Huber; five grandchildren, Stephanie Frances and Allen Michael McClanahan, Andrew Phillip and Sarah Elizabeth Simpson and Amber Nicole Reynolds; one sister, Loretta F. (Frank) Whisman; two brothers, Jerry P. (Mildred) Simpson and James A. (Janice) Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Rosaland Proksch, Martha D. Simpson, Ethel N. Baker and M. Marcella Littler and two brothers, George D. and Joseph D. Simpson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Donald Masem officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
