Gabriele BYRON Obituary
News Death Notice
BYRON, Gabriele "Gabby" 67, of Medway, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Gabriele was born in Leipzig, Germany to Gertraud and the late Hanns Pilz on September 12, 1946. She was a veteran in the Women's Army Corps. She was a Wright State grad. She worked and traveled in foreign sales at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 25 years. Gabriele leaves behind her husband of 46 years Jack, daughter Heather (Todd) Powell, sons Jason and James (Marla) Byron, and daughter Vanessa (Jason) Griffin; her sister Victoria (Randy) Glisson and mother Gertraud Pilz. She had 6 grandchildren Katie, Allison, Adam, Nathan, Kyle, and Emily, 2 step grandchildren Angela and Forrest and one step great grandchild Cara. Visitation and a brief service will be Noon- 3PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Newcomers Funeral Home in Huber Heights. A gathering for immediate family and friends will be held immediately following at the Byron residence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Gabby's Memory to either the American Cancer Society (www.americancancersociety.com) or the U.S Women's Army Corps Museum (www.awm.lee.army.mil).

I would like to send my condolences to the family of Gabby Byron. I worked with her at the Air Force Security Assistance Center at Wright Patterson AFB. She was a wonderful lady and had a great attitude about life. She and her smile will be missed.

I never "officially", met Gabby. Just through Facebook, but, it was as if I had known her all my life. I consider her a TRUE friend, and will one day, meet her face to face in Heaven. Praying for her family to find peace and comfort during this difficult time. Love you Gabby, my "sister from another mother"! We may have never met, or never attended Relay for Life together, but, I know I was with her in spirit and she with me.

I have known the Byron family for more than 25 years. I am close friends with Heather. Gabby was like a 2nd mother to me she was a very sweet and special women. I will miss you deeply.
