George VARGHESE Obituary

VARGHESE, Dr. George The son of V. Geevarghese and Aleyamma, was born on August 1, 1949 in Karunagappally, Kerala, India. He received his medical degree from Thiruvanthapuram Medical College and immigrated to the United States in 1977. After completing his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship training at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, he moved to Springfield, Ohio where he began his nephrology practice in 1983. Dr. Varghese leaves behind his family, including his beloved wife of 44 years, Anila; daughters, Elizabeth and Anna; son-in-law, Michael Berger; and granddaughters, Maya and Sarah who provided such comfort and joy. In addition to being a dedicated husband and father, he was equally passionate about his medical career and felt most at home serving his patients and the Springfield community he loved so dearly. He was a member of the boards of the Community Mercy Foundation and CHIEF and a member of the Clark County Medical Society. His legacy lives on with his partners and countless dialysis unit and hospital staff that he treasured like family. He attended Berea Bible Church in Springfield, Ohio and Saint Luke's Marthoma Church in Margate, Florida. He died on April 13, 2017 after living for two-and-a-half years with cancer. His optimism and positive spirit during his long illness touched everyone lucky enough to know him. Visitation services will be held at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME on Monday, April 17 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Covenant Presbyterian Church with burial service to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations in honor of Dr. George Varghese to the Hollandia Gardens Association, P.O. Box 235, Springfield, Ohio 45501.

I just learned today that Dr. Varghese had passed away. He was one of the nicest physicians in this area and always treated me with the utmost professionalism and kindness whenever I had an appointment with him. My thoughts are with his family; he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

I worked as a nurse with "Dr. George" at Community Hospital. Not only did I admire him as a doctor, but as a loving, kind, compassionate human being. He always treated the nurses kindly, and never spoke down to them. He always brought smiles and warmth to everyone on our unit. I will miss his smile, wit, and charm. His passing is a great loss to all who knew him and to Springfield as a community.

I became to know Dr. Varghese when my wife became ill. He was the most compassionate man and Dr. that I had ever met. He gave her the most wonderful care that she could have ever gotten. We both thought the world of him and he will truly be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Dr.

Dr.George took care of my grandfather and then my mother. He was so caring and with true concern. Not many Dr.s today have those qualities. I had the pleasure of meeting this fine Dr on a app with my mother, shaking his hand was a true honor. He had told us that even though he was ill, they were going to have to kick him out and not let him in, if he were to get any rest. The day he stepped back was indeed a sad day for all his patients. We hoped he was to get better but God stepped in and had his own plan. Now it is time for Dr.George to let the lord and his angels to care for him as generously as he did for others. Fly High Dr.G.
