Gladys Downing

1940 - 2017

DOWNING, Gladys 76, of Springfield, passed away Monday August 7, 2017 at Southbrook Care Center. She was born December 17, 1940 in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of Elijah and Stella (Blankenship) Coleman. On September 4, 1962 she married Roger C. Downing Sr. and had three sons whom survive her; Roger C. (Deb) Downing Jr. of Tipp City, Joseph A. (Dianne) Downing of Westerville and Gary D. (Cheryl) Downing of Huntsville; sisters, Susie (Carl) Brinkman, Agnes (Tommy) Thompson and Sadie Alexander; brother, Elijah Junior Coleman all of Springfield; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of fifty years, Roger C. Downing Sr.; brothers, Joe B. Coleman, Earnest Coleman and Earsel Coleman; granddaughter, Brenda Cole. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 2 p.m. Friday August 11, 2017 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday August 11, 2017 Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
