Stanley Holcombe Obituary

Stanley Holcombe, 54, of Mountain Glen Circle, Morganton died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at the Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese following a period of declining health.
Born in Yancey County on Sept. 16, 1956, he was the son of the late Liston Ewin Hol-combe and Chloe Blankenship Holcombe.
He was a member of Mull's Grove Baptist Church.
Stanley was a self-employed painting contractor and loved helping people.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene D. Carswell Holcombe of the home; a son, William Brandon Holcombe of Morganton; a brother, Rickey Dean Holcombe and wife, Wanda, of Morganton; a niece, Leslie Moore and husband, Derek, of Morganton; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Tyler and Jasmine Moore of Morganton.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Mull's Grove Baptist Church with Brother Bud Jernigan and Pastor Kevin Crawford officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
At other times the family will be at Marlene's residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
