BALDWIN, Jane A. Memorial services for Jane A. Baldwin, 77, Lawrence, Kan., were Wednesday, April 30 at Rumsey- Yost Funeral Home. Miss Baldwin died Tuesday, April 16, 2008, at The Windsor of Lawrence. She was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Dr. John W. and Nettie Bovard Baldwin. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1948, and graduated with honors from Ohio University in 1952 with a Bachelors of Science in Commerce. Miss Baldwin was employed as an accountant at Springfield City Hospital from 1952-55. She moved to Denver in 1955, where she worked for the American Institute of Aerological Research until 1960. She returned to Springfield City Hospital as a controller from 1960-66. She later worked as a research associate in the Bureau of Hospital Administration at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She retired as the Chief Financial Officer of Wyandotte Hospital, Wyandotte, Mich., in 1990, after 23 years of service. She volunteered her time doing taxes for the elderly and teaching adults to read, and received recognition from the Internal Revenue Service, AARP, The Information Center, and the City of Trenton, Mich. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, Business and Professional Women, the Welcome Club, and traveled extensively by aircraft with the Nomads in Detroit. She moved to Lawrence in 1996 to be near family. She is survived by a sister, Marilyn Baldwin McCleary and husband George, Lawrence; and three nephews, Joseph McCleary, Centennial,, Colo., John McCleary, Lawrence, and Frank McCleary, Blue Springs, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, the Lawrence Humane Society, or Southern Care Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
