News Death Notice

STEED, Janet Nicholl 72, of Lima, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 in the Golden Living Center, Lima. She was born on November 12, 1936 in Clark County, Ohio the daughter of her biological mother, Margaret Rice, adoptive parents, Robert R. and Dora Martin. Janet was a Registered Nurse and worked at various area hospitals and nursing homes for thirty years. She was a member of the Southside Mennonite Church for the past twenty-five years. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. In her youth, Janet belonged to the Fortnightly Music Club, where she was awarded with several honors. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca (Nicholl) and David Elkins of Lima; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Loretta Nicholl of Marseilles, Illinois; step-son, Dane and Barbara Steed of Florida; four grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Roger Wylee of Springfield; and Peggy Miller Mongold of Huntsville, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her biological mother Margaret Rice and brother, Ed Rude. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Friends may call one hour prior to the time of service.
