Dante Ajay Steed traveled to his final destination on February 3, 2026, at the age of 17. Born at home on August 28, 2008, in Florence, Texas, to TJ and Heather Steed, Dante spent his last 11 years in the Stephenville/Three Way area while commuting to Lipan for school. While he hated getting up so early for the long commute to school, he often laughed about how much he loved sleeping while his brother had to drive.
Dante’s life was short, but he leaves the memories of his loving character, exceptional problem solving abilities, and strong desire to help with work projects. He loved video games and not just for the playing. He had the ability and loved to hack into the code in many games and make the characters do actions not intended by the original programmers. He loved to be involved in building projects and figuring out solutions to problems that occurred. He especially loved learning how to use new tools. On another front, he was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed the dives with his mother. But most of all Dante leaves us with the memory of his “big heartwarming SMILE.”
Dante is survived by his parents TJ and Heather Steed; brother Darius; sister Stasia; grandmother Roxanne Healy and husband Gary; grandparents Mary and Steve Steed; great grandmother Mary Steed; great-aunt Vickie Steed; aunt Laura Sherrod and husband Jason Barkley; uncle Scott Sherrod and wife Marissa; uncle KC Steed and wife Gabi; aunt Stephanie Gibson and husband Michael; step.-grandmother Annette Sherrod; cousins and friends. Dante was preceded in death by his grandfather Rick (Papa Doc) Sherrod.
