Ann Montgomery Sims, 90, of Haltom City, passed away on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at Medical City North Hills Hospital surrounded by members of her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1935, in Morgan Mill, the twelfth of thirteen children of the late Harve Henery and Rachel Virginia Montgomery. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by seven sisters and four brothers.
Ann is survived by two sons: Michael and Kerry Allison of Saratoga Springs, NY. Greg and Lori Sims of Hurst. Three grandchildren: Melanie and Dana Allison, and Stratton Sims. She is also survived by a sister, Glynetta DeWees, of Arlington, and several nieces and nephews. We wish to thank and acknowledge the loving and devoted care given by her niece, Barbara Tischler.
Early in her adult life she was an accomplished horsewoman, including training racing quarter horses for Lorretta Lynn. Ann was a serial entrepreneur, owning a few restaurants and nightclubs, most notably the Watering Trough, Long Branch, Cowtown, and Oasis in the Fort Worth Stockyards. She was a strong advocate for the cattle, horse, and rodeo industries. It might be red beans and corn bread for the cattle buyers, calf fries for contestants on “Slack Monday” during the Stock Show, or just entry fee or gas money for the next rodeo.
Ann was also very dedicated to various charitable organizations over the course of her life, most recently NEED and Catholic Charities.
No matter if you called her mom, mama, Ms. Ann, or Harve, she touched and made a difference in so many lives and will be missed.
Viewing will take place from 11:00AM-1:00PM, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Stephenville Funeral Home, located at 120 W. South Loop in Stephenville. The graveside ceremony will be at the Morgan Mill Cemetery, located at the intersection of Hwy. 281 and FM 1188.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mid Cities Baptist Church, located at 5314 Broadway Ave. in Haltom City on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Mid Cities Baptist Church, 5314 Broadway Ave., Haltom City, TX 76117.
