Jimmie BLACKMON

BLACKMON, Mr. Jimmie Age 93, departed this life peacefully Monday, October 2, 2017 at his residence. He was employed at Edgemont Garden Center and retired from General Motors after 46 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church for many years. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Tennie C. Blackmon; sons, Calvin and Alvin Blackmon; daughter, Helen J. Blackmon. He leaves to cherish his memories, beloved son, Gus (Shelia) Blackmon of Rancho Mirage, CA; loving daughter-in-law, Gloria Blackmon; devoted grandson, LaQuince (Tawneisha) Blackmon (with whom he resided); sisters, Dorothy Blackmon, Dayton, Gladys Hill, Atlanta, GA; brothers, George and William (Geneva) Blackmon, both of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Josephine Blackmon; special niece, Virginia Harris; son and daughter of love, Dean (Lynn) Martin, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Kelaun (Kesha) Blackmon, San Antonio, TX, Tamika Linder, Calvin (Amber) Blackmon, both of Cincinnati, OH, Laschelle (Joey) Connors, Veronica (Michael) Dudley, Vanessa (LePear) Curry, Anthony Blackmon, all of Dayton; 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service 11 am Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Pastor James E. Washington Jr. officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation 8:30-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phillips Temple C.M.E. Scholarship Fund.
