John Forhan Obituary


News Death Notice

FORHAN, John David 81 of Urbana, passed away, Wednesday, August 4, 2010. He was born October 17, 1928 in Wenatchee, Washington, the son of William and Olive (Rutherford) Forhan. John served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Harmony Lodge #8 F & A M. He enjoyed aircraft and held a private pilots license. His love of flying began in high school when he worked for Wenatchee Air Service. In later years he worked as a baker at City Bakery in Urbana, retiring as a baker from Fulmers Supermarket in Springfield. John also worked for Geuy Construction in Rosewood. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Sue (Hartzler) Forhan, his sons, John Scott (Connie) Forhan of Springfield and Michael Alan (Carol) Forhan of Urbana; his granddaughter, Jessica (Brent) Horwath; brothers, William Forhan, Tim (Wanda) Forhan & Fred (Justine) Fowler and a sister-in-law, Frances Forhan, all from the state of Washington, as well as several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 on Sunday, August 8, 2010 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in OakDale Cemetery, Urbana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grimes Flying Lab Foundation, 1636 North Main St, Urbana, OH 43078. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
