John F. GALLAGHER

1941 - 2018

GALLAGHER, John F. 76, of Springfield passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. He was born November 27, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963 and was a member of the VFW Post 1031. John retired from Navistar after 42 years of dedicated service. He was an avid member at the Union Club, Machinist Club, Buckeye Lodge, Elks Lodge, Eagles and DAV where he enjoyed telling stories with his many friends. John was a 50 year member of the IBEW Local #683 and a member of the Local UAW #402 for many years. He also enjoyed playing golf, attending his grandkids sporting events, boating and fishing with his friend, Justen Fain. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Georgia M. Gallagher; two daughters, Jennifer A. Gallagher and Jodi L. Fain; two sons, Jeffrey J. Gallagher and Thomas E. Tuller; grandchildren, Tyler, Haleigh, and Dakota Adams; Ryan, McKenzie, and Ty Fain; Clayton Tuller; Riley Gallagher-Lashley; great-granddaughter, Arabella Adams, and his beloved Alexander Family. He was preceded in death by his son, John F. Gallagher, Jr., aunt and uncle, Nancy and Sonny Alexander, and grandsons, Tyler Fain and Cameron Tuller. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with VFW Services starting at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. A celebration of John's life will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 1pm with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating, additional visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association.
