POST, Lewis Of Springfield, Ohio began his trip to Heaven on Thursday evening, August 11th to join his wife and family members who preceded him. Lewis was 91 years young and formerly from Barboursville, West Virginia. He was a devoted husband and married to his recently deceased wife, Valana Lee (Hayson) Post, for nearly 65 years. He was born on February 11th, 1925 in Harrison County, West Virginia to parents, Frank and Rossie (Lewis) Post and was the youngest of four children. Born and raised on the family farm, Lewis attended a one room school until high school. After graduating from Roosevelt -Wilson High School, he continued to work on the farm until joining the military during World War II. He served with the Navy from the late 1943 to early 1946 during which time he served on the USS Saratoga. After military service and attending technical school in Louisville, KY, he was employed at a radio station located in Charleston, West Virginia. He later began working at Columbia Gas Company as a microwave communications technician where he remained until retirement in 1990. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, attending Marshall football games, watching the sports on TV and playing with his grandchildren. He was known for his quiet & gentle nature and was always kind to those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him Lewis is survived by his sons, William (Cindy) Post of Springfield, Ohio, Larry (Carol) Post of Bostic, North Carolina and Rodney (Linda) Post of Barboursville, West Virginia, sister Jean Stout of Flemington, West Virginia, brother William Post of Mt Claire, West Virginia, brother -in-law Ronald (Brenda) Hayson of Monterey, Virginia, sister -in-law Mary Ella Shamblin of Greenville, South Carolina and sister-in-law Ida Hayson. He was also blessed with six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lewis is preceded in death by his wife, Valana Post, parents Frank and Rossie Post, brother Phillip Post, sister-in-law Mary Post, brother-in-law Dan Stout, brother-in-law James Hayson, Jr. and sister-in-law Charlene Roy He will be cremated and plans for a memorial service will be determined at a later date. Littleton & Rue Funeral Home in Springfield, Ohio is handling the arrangements.
