News Death Notice

ROLLINS, Norma Elaine age 87, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2012 at her winter home in Clermont, Florida. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, March 18, 1924, the middle child of James O. Thompson and Rhoda Marie Thompson. Norma was a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School.She married her husband, Ray Rollins, on October 22, 1945. Except for six years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Norma was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Ohio. While raising her family, Norma worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and completed her college degree from Wittenberg University. Norma then taught elementary education and high school mathematics in Springfield City Schools and Springfield Local Schools. Upon her retirement, Norma enjoyed many years of traveling and playing tennis and golf. She also belonged to the Springfield Animal Welfare League (animals, especially dogs, were her passion). She was a member of The Woman's Town Club. Norma is survived by her husband Ray and their five children, and their spouses (Barb Rollins, Linda (Jack) Bednar, Don (Jenny) Rollins, Connie (Jim) Schlub, and Randy (Alison) Rollins); six grandchildren (Lauri Bednar (Scott) Lipka, Chris (Rachel) Bednar, Nick (Amanda) Bednar, Ashley and Chelsea Rollins, and Riley Schlub); and three great grandchildren (Katie and Emma Lipka and Mackenzie Bednar). Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, from 11am. to 1pm. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, Springfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Jeff Mullinix officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
