News Death Notice

SMITH, Patricia Kay age 61, of Springfield passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2011 in her residence. Born on February 2, 1951 in Fayette County, Ohio, Pat was a daughter of the late Carl and Emogean (Carr) Rhoads. She married Rodney E. Smith on February 2, 1980 and he survives. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Steven Smith and Marly Ramsour of Fulton, Missouri; two sisters: Mary (Terry) Thevenin of Jamestown, Ohio and Dorothy Rhoads of Jamestown, Ohio; and a brother, Carl (Alice) Rhoads of Good Hope, Ohio. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tricia. Pat was a 1969 graduate of Miami Trace High School. She also graduated from Clark Technical College, Springfield as a registered nurse. She was currently employed by Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris. There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Nancy Hardin presiding. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W. Harding Road, Springfield, Ohio 45504-9964. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home. Condolences to the family may also be sent to www.shivelyfuneralhomes.com.
