Penny COMER Obituary
News Death Notice
COMER, Penny Jean 54, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012. She was born September 21, 1958 in Springfield, the daughter of Reaford and Patty (Walters) Comer. Penny was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed singing and cooking and was the dedicated "Nanny" to several local families. She had been employed the Inn at Fox Run and the Banqueting House. Penny was a graduate of Shawnee High School. Survivors include her mother; Patty Comer, Springfield, two brothers; Reaford Larry Comer, Springfield and Chuck (Alyce) Comer, South Vienna, one sister; Rebecca Jill (Brian) Roberts, Springfield, numerous nieces and nephews including; Hannah Wenner, Shannon Lockhart and Chris Lockhart, great nieces and great nephews including; Tucker and Tanner Lockhart and special devoted cousin; Nathan Adkins, Springfield,. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers; Rick and James Comer and a sister; Patsy Lockhart. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00PM until 6:00PM Tuesday in the First Assembly of God Church, 515 South Burnet Road with memorial services following at 6:00PM. Pastors Brett Gleeson, Bud Rose and Craig Fitch will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jill Roberts. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.

Penny, a unique person,filled with the love of Christ,that always spilled over on to you when in her presence,she Love all that she met and a smile that never seemed to leave her face.I have known Penny for 35 years,she has been like my sister more than a friend.I am so grateful to have had such a loving person in my life and I am richer for having known her.I know that her passing has been difficult for all Family members and those of her friends,and Hannah,Chris and Shannon,like her own children.Today Penny is free of her earthly Temple and lives on with those who have gone on before us.Jesus was merciful to take home when He did,and now love surrounds her and she is with her family there,waiting on the day when we will join her and our loved ones.I have great memories with you over the years,Thank you for your Friendship ,hugs, smiles and unconditional love,I'll always love you my friend,see you soon. So sorry to hear of Penny"s death. She was a wonderful person who was extremely talented in singing- not only that, I never saw her when she wasn't pleasant. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

When I first met Penny, she welcomed me with open arms and open heart and a smile that warmed me through and through. No matter the last time I had seen her she always had a hug and smile for me, and never judged me for my decisions just loved me as though I was part of the family. I will miss Penny, but I know now she has found true Peace and will be watching down on all of us from Heaven! My thoughts go out to the family, as I wish I could have been there to say goodbye with you but I know you will find strength in each other as you always have!

I knew Penny from working with her at
The Inn at Fox Run. She was a pretty, kind and gentle person. She made some wonderful meals, enjoyed by all. I miss you Penny. Will see one another again. My thoughts and prayers to the family. Love Mary Tackett

I never got to really know Penny but I was blessed when she was able to attend 1st assembly the last few months. she sang and God blessed her with a voice of an angel. she will be missed.

I only met Penny over a year ago, and I knew she was special from the first time we met.She had such a sweet spirit about her and she sang songs to the Lord inspite of her illness.I feel blessed to have known her and my heart was saddened to hear of her passing. There was only one Penny...she can never be replaced! Anyone who knew her, understands that statement. I will never forget how her warm, loving, sweet spirit could light up a room...and always a big smile on her face! She will be so greatly missed. I believe that when Penny walked through Heaven's gates there was a wonderful reunion with her loved ones! I can only imagine!!! For the Christian...it does not end here on this earth...I thank God for the promise and the hope of eternal life. I have faith and believe I will see Penny again one day...until then...I will always remember the precious person she was to me and I will miss her very much. My love and prayers are with the family at this time. I love you all so much!

I was always enjoyed Penny's smile when she used to come into the office. We talked of our faith often. Although I haven't seen her in quite some time, I have no doubt she was still smiling.

I came to meet Penny while in the hospital in july. Jill and I spoke about her ,Jill ask me to speak to her about her amputation ,and to see if we could get her in a better frame ofd mind.I became so close to her. My only regret is I did not know her here on earth ,but she is smiling down on me . HER AND I WILL WALK TOGETHER IN HEAVEN BLESS EVERYONE REST IN PEACE PENNY LOVE U JILL KISS HER FOR ME

Dear Family, Oh how I wish things could have turned out differently. I will cherish the memories I have of Penny. I am sad to hear that she is gone but at the same time I am happy she is in heaven with so many that have left this earth. She suffers no more.
