News Death Notice

RYAN, Richard W. "Rick" 58, of Springfield died Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Miami Valley Hospital following a brief illness. He was born April 20, 1951 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of James A. and Betty J. (Bohl) Ryan and was a graduate of the Georgia Military Academy, in Griffin, Georgia. Rick was a Car Salesman for twenty years with Monte Zinn, Springfield Ford and Foreman-Blair, and was the Owner of Handcrafted Country Furniture at the Marketplace in Springfield. He attended Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan, and season ticket holder for twenty-five years. He is survived by his wife of almost thirty years Carole D. (Zelaski) Ryan; his mother, Betty, both of Springfield; two daughters and a son-in-law Abby (Ryan) and William "Chip" Hoitink of Marietta, Georgia, and Whitney M. Ryan of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law Susan (Ryan) and John C. Whitman III of Marietta, Georgia; three nieces Tracy Kellogg, Amy Hutcherson and Heather Little; several great nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law Linda Bartlett of Minster, Ohio and Alice (Douglas) McGinnis of Springfield; one brother-in-law Bryan (Jennifer) Zelaski of Florida. He was preceded in death by his father James; paternal grandparents A.W. "Jack" and Ruth Ryan and his maternal grandparents Dr. J.C. and Nan Bohl. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 5-7 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Pastor Beverly DeBord officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.richardsraffanddunbar.com.

We knew Rick from Springfield Ford and the Marketplace. Our shop was next to his and he really made our day a lot of fun. He talked about his family often. May God comfort you at this time of your loss.
