Richard Wagner Obituary

WAGNER, Richard Noble 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday morning, September 17, 2017 at Southbrook Care Center, following several months of failing health. He was born in Springfield on March 2, 1932, the son of the late Clarence E. and Edith B. (Easterday) Wagner. Dick was a graduate of the Kentucky Military Institute and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as vice president from his family's business, Wagner Moving & Storage. During his business career, he was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Rotary Club, and YMCA Camp Evergreen board of directors. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge #619 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite and the Antioch Shrine. Dick is survived by his two sons, Tony (Patty) Wagner of Jacksonville, Florida and Michael (Donna) Wagner of Springfield; five grandsons, Ty (Angela) Wagner, Matthew (April) Wagner, Nick Wagner, Thomas Wagner, and Sam Wagner; and three great grandchildren, Blake and Max Wagner and Peri Wagner. Also surviving is a sister, Joyce (Ryan) Trego of Springfield; sister-in-law, Jean Wagner of Springfield; brother-in-law, Jim (Donna) Huffman of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Huffman) Wagner in 2003 and his brother, Leroy Wagner in 2001. A private graveside service will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps.
