News Death Notice

DOUGHERTY, Robert Thomas "Tom" 82, of Springfield, died at 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Community Hospital. He was born April 22, 1927 in Galion, Ohio the son of Thomas Robert and Ethel Lucille (Thomas) Dougherty. He had been employed as a quality control supervisor for International Harvester for 32 years retiring in 1982 and later gave tours in the plant, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a member of St. Raphael Church, member and Past Grand Knight of the K of C and was a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran having served in World War II. Survivors include four children and spouses, Ann (Keith) Lins, Troy, Ohio, Becky Dougherty and friend Kim Mayne, London, OH, Molly (Bob) Mann, Springfield and Jenny Wilson, Troy, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Nikki (Willie) Dickerson, Doug (Kate) Lins, Andy (Danielle) Lins, Erin (Aric) Dorr, Ben Mann and Katie and Matt Wilson; 7 great grandchildren, Makayla, Savannah, Lyric, Danny, Mary, Sarah and Tommy; two sisters, Marianne (Tom) Dunn and Marylu Lyons; sisters in law, Ginny Dougherty and Sophie Turnbull; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy L. (Turnbull) in 2004, a brother John Dougherty, a son-in-law Mike Wilson and brothers in law, Joe Lyons and Tom Turnbull. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Raphael Church with inurnment in St Bernard Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Oakwood Village and Dr. To for the love and care shown to their father.
