News Death Notice
DEADY, Roger F. 87, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in his home. Roger was born March 11, 1928 in Springfield, OH to Maurice and Ethel (Palmer) Deady. He owned and operated Deady's Furniture for 33 years, and was a member of St. Joseph Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline (Young); seven children, Joseph (Judy) Deady, Scarlet Aiple, Michael (Vicky) Deady, Rosemary (Bill) Meyer, Roger (Amanda) Deady, Timothy Deady and Paul (Becky) Deady; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Richard and Rafael; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Martha and Patty. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.

At about age 12, I (Bob Deady) took saxophone lessons as a child in the 1950's in Springfield, Ohio. At that same time, Roger played Sax in a band that my dad put together and they practiced in in my parents home. My teacher taught a 'book learned'- technical type of playing. I really learned to play a more melodious form from Roger. Great memories. This is one of many.
