News Death Notice
ROTH, Stephen Albert 59, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio. Stephen was born in Davenport, Iowa, August 30, 1955, then moved to Springfield, Ohio, in 1960 where he continued to reside. Steve graduated from Springfield North High School in 1973. He attended Ohio State University where he majored in art and Spanish. He worked at Golden Jersey Inn for several years. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, art, and especially music. He enjoyed playing card games with family and pool with his brother Harry and friends. Stephen was the beloved son of Jacqueline (Jackie) Virginia Roth and the late Harry Roth; nephew of Aunt Alice France, Aunt Jo Simmons, and Aunt Marty Kefauver; youngest brother of Harry (Alice) Lewis Roth II and Kerry Evan Roth; uncle of Leah (Hugh) Shisler and Ahren (Ken) Staubitz; great uncle of Austin and Jordan Staubitz and Cameron Shisler. Stephen's family would like to thank all those involved in Springfield's mental health services, NAMI, and medical personnel who have been so supportive of Steve through his many years struggling with mental illness and health issues. Steve looked on all of you as part of his extended family, looking forward to his Thursday trips to the mental health clinic and activities planned by NAMI. You all have been a blessing to Steve for many years. Stephen's family would also like to thank the Essex of Springfield for the excellent care you've given him for many months. You helped him adjust to his new home and deal with his mental and physical issues. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 - 11 am Tuesday, July 14, at the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Stephen A. Roth's memory to NAMI of Clark and Greene County, 222 East Street, Springfield, Ohio, 45505. We lived on South Hadley and the Roths lived on South Belmont. Belmont Meadows was a great place to be a kid in the 60's. I have a lot of fond memories of Steve from those days. RIP Steve.

Steve and i were good friends in Jr High. Such a wonderful person! He would sit and play Stairway to Heaven. Steve, it is still my favorite song! Blessings above, my friend. Prayers for your family.

To Stephen's family, I shared the news of Stephen's passing with our classmates at North High and the comments were many. He wasn't forgotten, and all of us remembered more than anything his gentle soul and quiet nature. Oh yes and his beautiful eyes. God bless you all in this time of your grief.

Jackie an Kerry, I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I remember him from one of my art classes at North. I've never experienced anything quite like the comradery in an art class. I remember those days fondly.

I remember that Stephen had such a beautiful smile and very soulful eyes.
He was my classmate and friend at North High School. Stephen was a very sweet and gentle guy. I am saddened to read that he struggled so much in his life. Melissa Valley
