Ms. Compton..
You were my teacher in the late 80's and it was because of you that I realized I can only do good in school if I worked for it. After that I never missed an honor roll. So Than you for that. But mostly I knew you from hanging out with Rashada as we worked at McDonalds together. Just know you were the big impact on my life and I can't express enough sympathy for you and your family.

My friend Vivian was such a vibrant person who had a soft spot in her heart for everybody, always willing to share whatever she had. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. We shared many pleasant times as next door neighbors, college roommates, and friends. I shall miss her visits to Danville where we ate and chatted. Be comforted children because she rests in piece.

Love ya,
Odaris

Cousin Vivian is not gone because her spirit will live on. We will honor her by continuing to work to make this world a better place by working with our children. To her children were our most important product and they are all a Precious Gift from God. Live on Cousin Vivian.

My memory:

I got married in 2000 and of course Vivian wasn't going to miss that! Weeks after the wedding, when I returned to work people were talking about my Aunt and how she was having such a good time. however, my mother doesnt have any sisters, so I asked well what did my "aunt" look like at which point they described Vivian to the tee. She was definetly the life of the party, and she was a person that could not be forgotten if you ever had the fortune of spending any time with her. Gone but Definetly not forgotten!

September 24, 2009

sister teacher arrived on the scene with instructions from the master
sowing love among the exotic herbs and wild flowers of her gardens.
up came a harvest of children who caught her challenge to learn
in spite of color, status, or address.

sister teacher would not, could not be ignored.
she fished up the motivation key for reluctant learners,
grabbing, cajoling, coaxing, and changing negatives to positives.
reaching into her heart,
moving mountains, people, and bureaucracies
mining resources,
and depositing gold nuggets of knowledge into memory banks.

sprinkling generosity amid the sweet hard words,
sister friend invited us into her kitchen of fragrant aromas and melodious music ,
feeding us boisterous laughter along with the freshly-baked rolls and delectable delights.
sister friend danced and pirouetted through our journey
sharing joy and pain
creating unbreakable bonds and deep roots.

her story, her love,
her journey, her testimony,
is our treasure,
our blessing.

love, Jackie

Ms. Corbin was one of the best and one of the most open minded teacher I ever had. Her class was always open to discussions about anything. She made Hayward one of the best schools to go to even at a time when racial tensions ran high. I was fortunate enough to run into her a Krogers this past year and got to tell her as much. God truly did bless us with this wonder teacher and woman.

To The family of Mrs. Compton,
I remember being in the 6th grade at Hayward and hearing about Mrs. Compton from my cousin. I couldn't wait to be in the 7th grade. As a 7th grader she challenged us. she always had high expectations, she would not accept anything less. She always addressed us as Mr or Ms. That made us feel special. We always wanted to please her. What I remember most of all was her first day of school talk...... it stayed with us for the rest of the year. May God continue to bless you in the time.
