Barbara Nims Obituary

Barbara "Nana" Fowler Nims of Pace, Florida walked through the pearly gates of Heaven on March 22, 2017 at the age of 59.
She was born in Brewton, Alabama on September 11, 1957; daughter of Oscar Fowler Sr. and the late, Sybil (Blackmon) Fowler.

Barbara graduated from Pace High School in 1976 and married the love of her life, Roy Nims, on June 24, 1977. Although a devoted military wife that moved frequently, Barbara was a lifelong early childhood educator wherever they lived and finally retired from Santa Rosa County School Board in 2015. She was a long-time member of Cobbtown Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Sybil Blackmon Fowler; maternal grandparents, Robert and Lola Blackmon; and paternal grandparents, Enoch and Ethel Nowling Fowler.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Roy Nims; her daughter, Faith (Brad) Ford; her son, Troy (Alisha) Nims; her four grandchildren, Bryant Ford, Blu Nims, Sybella Ford and Brayden Nims; her father, Oscar Samuel Fowler Sr.; her brothers, Samuel (Cheryl) Fowler and Jerry Fowler; her sister, Glenda (Todd) Peck; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Ashley) Fowler, Jodi (Rob) Jackson, Ryan (Tracy) Fowler, Geoff (Jennifer) Peck, and Gena Peck; two great nephews and one great niece.

Barbara was a devoted, loving mother and Nana who loved spending time with her family. She showed her love by spending hours cooking for her family and making memories in the kitchen with her grandkids, cheering them on at sporting events, and showering them with hugs and kisses. She had a passion for kids and became Super "Nana" not just to her own, but to anyone's kids. Known for her unwavering faith in God, she was a dependable prayer warrior to everyone that knew her.

A time of visitation will be held at Cornerstone Christian Church, 14047 Alabama Street, Jay, Florida 32565, on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, March 27, 2017 with Brother Glyn Lowrey Jr. and Brother Jim Lassiter officiating.
