Claire Wilson Collier

1930 - 2025

Claire Wilson Collier, affectionately known as "CC", passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 94, in Pensacola, Florida. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born on August 11, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Thomas and Clara Wilson, Claire was a proud graduate of Massey Business College.

She spent her early years in Walton County. The Collier family was posted to Japan where Claire raised the children while also working as a school librarian. Upon her return, she became an editor and columnist for the Jackson County Herald in Jackson County. Her travels eventually led her to White County, and she finally settled in Milton, Florida, where she spent her final days.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Curtis Harris Collier; her first husband, John William Nance; brothers, Tommy Wilson and Robby Wilson; son, Benjamin Collier; and grandson, John Nance.

She is survived by her nine children: Connie Norman, Sam Nance, Claire Dawson, Carolyn Mundy, Curtis Collier, Jr, Connie Tucker, Mary Kiefl, Martha Blokzyl, and Catherine Collier, along with their spouses. Her legacy continues through her 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Claire was a devoted follower of Jesus and a member of Olivet Baptist Church in Milton, Florida. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
