Rhonda Jernigan Obituary

Rhonda Lee Jernigan, age 63, of Holiday, Florida, passed away on June 15, 2025.

Rhonda was born on April 10, 1962, in Milton, Florida to Hamp and Helen Jernigan. Rhonda grew up in her beloved Milton for 37 years , traveling with her Dad and Mom, fishing, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. Following the passing of her father, Hamp, she and her mother moved to Palm Harbor, which brought her closer to her sister Tammie, brother-in-law, Mark, and niece, Jessica. Rhonda's immediate and extended family were her greatest sources of joy and she was always happiest being surrounded by them.

In November of 2001, Helen remarried to Jim Lewis and he became a second father to Rhonda. The three of them enjoyed traveling in their RV, including several trips to Pigeon Forge and River Ranch, two of Rhonda's favorite destinations.

Rhonda never met a stranger, gave firm handshakes when she met you, and if she knew you, you would be lucky to receive one of her great hugs. She looked forward to planning her birthday every year and always picked out fun themes for her celebration.

She felt more joy in giving to others than receiving things herself. Rhonda loved listening to and singing country music as she strummed her collection of guitars, wearing her jean jacket and cowboy hat. Her favorite football team was FSU and she loved to wear her matching shirt and shoes as she cheered on the Noles.

Rhonda showed us what unconditional love, and care meant, was so sweet, kind, and always thankful. She was truly one of God's special angels here on earth, and we are all so much better for having been loved by her.

Rhonda is predeceased by her father, Hamp Jernigan, her stepfather, Jim Lewis, and both sets of her grandparents, Julius and Corrie Lockett and Ezra and Anna Jernigan.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Lewis, her sister, Tammie Flammer(Mark), her brother, Kenneth Paul Jernigan, a niece,Jessica Flammer Koch,(Charlie), two nephews, Jake Jernigan, Jordan Jernigan(Jillian), one great niece, Elleri Jernigan,

and one great nephew, Cooper Koch, as well as extended family.

We will all miss her more than words can say.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Oh my goodness...it´s been so long since we´ve seen any of you.
Tried to use my mom´s address book but could never make contact. I´m so sorry for your loss. What a blessing to have Rhonda and her big smile for so long! When I was young she always encouraged me by being so happy! I know she will be missed. Tammie, email me please when you see my email.

I had not seen Rhonda for many years but when I was in town, mother and I stopped by Helen's for a visit. As soon as Rhonda saw me she gave me a big hug and said Gary where have you been I miss you. I will always remember that. She was a very sweet and kind person. My condolence to Helen and Tammie and family.
