I took a with Professor Govardhan in 2002, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. He was truly gentle, kind and honorable; a living example of the best among us; even when subjected to random airport searches as a distinguished traveling scholar. I was especially moved by the way he spoke about his wife and family; to whom I offer my sincere condolences.
