Julian Sayer Obituary

JULIAN W. SAYER of Stamford, CT died March 14, 2005 at Stamford Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1925 in Belle Harbor, NY. He was 79.

Julian was currently serving as a member of the Stamford Parks and Recreation Committee. He was an active member of the Democratic Party in Stamford and was a Justice of the Peace. He was an avid fan of Stamford Sharks Youth Hockey.

Julian was the Chairman and Founder of the Annual Giving Fund, as well as serving as a past President of the Board of Trustees, at the Long Ridge School. He was a member of the 200th Anniversary Development Program Campaign Committee, and acting Class Agent, at Dartmouth College (Class of '47). He was a member of the Alumni Council; Class Chairman; past Co-Chairman of the General Campaign 75th Anniversary Development Program; past Co-Chairman Alumni Fund; and the winner of the Alumni Fund Award from 1955-1968 and 1997-2004 for the Horace Mann School (Class of '43).

He was a past President of the Newfield Corners Civic Association. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Sayer, and his children, Joseph Sayer of Naugatuck and Leslie Brown of Stamford. He also leaves behind four grandsons, Kyle, Todd and Glen Brown and Sean Sayer, as well as a daughter-in-law, Janice Sayer, and a son-in-law, Douglas Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Horace Mann School Annual Fund, 231 West 246th Street, Riverdale, NY 10471-3497.

Services will be held privately.
