Lucille Raphael Gladwin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 92 on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024. She was born on September 25th 1931 to the late Pasquale and Mary (Buchetto) Sarni.
She was a lifelong resident of Stamford and married her high school sweetheart, Russell Chapman Gladwin Jr. Lucille was a faithful employee of Toyota of Stamford for over 60 years where she fostered many lifelong relationships. Those who knew Lucille best would speak of her excellent cooking, sense of style, voracious appetite for reading, and love of the beach. She regularly hosted large holiday gatherings and always embodied the matriarch role for her family. Her specialty was her Italian cookies that were loved by all. She was an avid skier well into her 80's and regularly enjoyed trips to Vermont with her family of which she was fiercely loyal and always cherished.
She is survived by her son Russell C. Gladwin III and daughter-in-law Susan (Freebairn) Gladwin and the joys of her life her three grandchildren, Kelly (Tucker) Watts, Katie (Anthony) Lia, and Russell (Brenna) Gladwin IV. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Maeve Gladwin, Isla Watts, and Vincenzo Lia and her sister, Geraldine (Arcano) Boccuzzi. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Russell, her brothers Michael Sarni, Frank Arcano, Dennis Arcano and sister Dolly Pennella.
