Ray Bowling Obituary

Ray Bowling
Ray Bowling, age 92, passed away on November 17, 2022, at Stamford Hospital. The eighth of ten children, he was born in Modoc, West VA, on February 8, 1930.
He enlisted in the military at age 15 and was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. He participated in the Berlin Airlift. He married Angelina Lodato, also the eighth of ten children, on February 4,1952 in Montgomery, West VA, and they moved to Stamford in 1954.
Together with his brothers-in-law Philip, John and Ross Lodato, Ray started and ran United House Wrecking until his retirement. He was a trustee of Sacred Heart Church for over 40 years, as well as a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a volunteer for Marine Corp Toys for Tots for 27 years and the Food Bank for over 20 years. He was a charter member and great supporter of The Prometheum in Stamford, CT.
Ray was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Angie, for 58 years until her death in 2010. He is survived by his son, Raymond and his wife, Ronnie; his son, Stephen, his three grandchildren, Rachel, Raymond, and Daniel; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Herbert, Clarence, Donald, Glenn, and Robert; and his sisters, Lucile, Rosalee, Dorthey, and Elizabeth.
He was a rugged, self-made man who was respected for his wisdom and good council. He possessed a gentlemanly grace and a captivating charm, and was known for his kindness and charity. Ray was welcoming and generous to all. His door was always open and he had many unannounced guests whom he was always happy to see. Even in his 90s he was a man of vigor, making new friends of all ages who quickly grew to love him.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to: Prometheum Foundation www.prometheumfoundation.org
