Richard Northrop Obituary

RICHARD A. NORTHROP, JR., 51, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly at his home on the morning of Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was born November 19, 1960, in Stamford, to the late Richard and Dorothy (Kozlinski) Northrop. Rick worked in the printing business for many years at Zip Quality Printing, Lucas Printing Company and High Ridge Printing & Copy Center. He went on to college to earn an Associate's Degree in computer technology. He was currently employed with Cablevision Systems Corporation in Norwalk. Rick was a loving father and a wonderful brother, uncle and son. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He spent many hours in a hockey rink and at baseball, soccer and football fields. He loved taking his children on road trips, whether it was across the country or through the state traveling to all their sporting events. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time on the golf course. Rick is survived by his four beloved children, Courtney, Spencer, Riley and Griffin, who were his greatest source of happiness and pride. He leaves behind three sisters, Colleen Bombace, and husband Frank, of Norwalk, Lisa DeLeo, of Trumbull, and Michele Stalteri, and husband Mario, of Stamford and many nieces and nephews and his two great-nephews, Erik and Ethan. Rick will be sadly missed by his family, friends and by all those who came to know him. His family welcomes all friends and relatives on Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 4 to 7pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 10th at 11am at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Road in Stamford. Interment will immediately follow at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, Rick's children ask that donations be made to the Trinity Catholic High School Golf, Hockey and Soccer programs. Donations can be made in Rick's memory to Trinity Catholic High School, 926 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford. If you care to leave an online remembrance, you may sign the family guestbook at www.bosakfuneralhome.com or visit the Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation page on Facebook to share your remembrances of Rick with his family.

Dear Lisa, Coleen, Michele, and Ricky's children, our deepest sympathy's for your loss of brother and father. Growing up with Ricky as best friend and neighbor, (with the Joiner's housed between us), having him as a best man in our wedding, I have so so many memories of Ricky. He is a piece of my life from childhood, to marriage, and will be sadly missed. From listening to LP's of Kansas. Bowie, and Deep Purple to the many many games of Risk at Cummings Beach during the summer nights on the pavillion, to our first concert together in 1977 seeing Pink Floyd at MSG. You will be missed Ricky. God Bless your family. Scott, Heather Christiano and family.

I want to send my condolences to Rick's family... I worked beside Rick at CV. He was a great man, always full of laughs...

I found this poem and wanted to share it with you all....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.
They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.
Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain,
You'll always be within my heart
Until we meet again.
Lisa and Rick's Family...
As you walk along this new path of grief and sorrow--feeling like there is no tomorrow, I ask blessings for the sweet belief--that there is eventually relief. As the sorrow starts to grow smaller, good memories of a loved one grow taller. I hold this family in loving HUGS (Holding U Gently Softly) while you grieve.....
Two things are at the forefront when I think of Ricky....his Children, and his laughter. Always, a Father first. Such a great loss for his family, as I know his laughter and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
May Ricky rest in peace, and may his family find the strength to get to a place where they understand, that he will always, always, be with them.
Much sorrow, from an old Zip pal.
