To Dick's family, I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He had a good long run to share his wisdom, so often hidden in his humor. It was always was a joy to see him at picnics, at St. Agnes or anywhere around town so often with your mom. I'm sure he had that big grin with smiling eyes when he got to his eternal home. I hope the great memories bring you comfort.

Mr. Salvatore was the greatest. Everyday he greeted me with a smile at school and asked me about my children by name. He was a daily ray of sunshine, and I missed him when he retired! He and Mary continued to send holiday cards, and I so enjoyed staying in contact over the years. My condolences to the family! May his memory always be a blessing!! Sharon Milbank

Mr. Salvatore was not just kind--he was also very perceptive into each student's personality. He knew that each of us at age 13 to 17 was more or less insecure and self-conscious and he somehow said the right thing to make the day better.I knew him at St. Mary's HS from 1962 to 1966. What a wonderful man. Wishes of sympathy to the family. Karen Kuntz Hart

We lost a great one. I learned so many things working for him a GCMS As my old law partner would say: "Don't mourn that he passed away but celebrate that he passed our way" I will always be a better person because he passed my way in life. A kinder person one could not know.

On my last day of 8th grade, in the spring of 1983, Mr. Salvatore offered me a summer job to help maintain the buildings on Stanwich Road which were called the Greenwich Catholic School at that time. Although I knew nothing about the work required, Mr. Salvatore gave me the confidence that I could handle the tasks. It was my great fortune that I was able to work alongside Mr. Salvatore during breaks from school for the next 3 years.
During those summers, Mr. Salvatore taught me not only many skills needed to maintain a property, but also the value of a hard day's work and a quick wit, and helped me navigate through some difficult years of my life. He was an excellent boss, a mentor, and a friend. 30 years later, and I still work in property management as a property controller for a 2 million square foot office building portfolio. I owe Mr. Salvatore a debt of gratitude; my life was most definitely made better for having known him, and because he took a chance on giving a 14 year old kid a job.
My condolences to the Salvatore family, and may he & his wife forever rest in peace.
Best Regards, John

Dear Salvatore Family,
We are very saddened to learn of Dick's passing. He was a truly wonderful person and touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He began touching my life during my days as as student at St. Mary High School to when he was my "right hand man" when I was Principal at Catholic Middle School (Greenwich Catholic) in the 1970's. He was truly a spiritual man who loved life and everyone he came in contact with. He knew everyone by name and was loved by all. Joann and I always looked forward to seeing him at the 4:00 pm Mass at St. Mary's each week. We deeply regret not being able to attend Dick's wake and funeral Mass as we are away for the month of July. His was a life well-lived.
God bless you all,
Peter and Joann Borchetta

I'll always remember Mr. Salvatore as the gentler custodian and Bill Robustelli as the crusty one, but between them the St. Mary's HS campus was in superb hands. Considering the size of the campus, even back then, there a lot to care for.
My condolences Ritchie and to your siblings. Your father was wonderful person and I know I'm preaching to the choir in saying so.
