Roseann DeCamillo Obituary

Roseann DeCamillo
Roseann DeCamillo, born in Stamford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Brighton Gardens in Stamford. She was the daughter of the late Carmine and Rose (Pastore) Concilio.
Roseann's early years were marked by academic achievement and a love of learning. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1946, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains. Roseann was proud to be the first in her family to attend college, setting a wonderful example for future generations. Her passion for writing led her to a fulfilling career at The Stamford Advocate, where she worked for ten years, making lasting contributions and friendships while teaching ESL to night school students.
Never one to stop striving for success, Roseann pursued further education, earning a Master's in Education. She then transitioned to a rewarding career in teaching at Stamford High School, where she inspired countless students with her dedication, wisdom, and kindness. Roseann's commitment to education and her community was evident in all she did. While at SHS, she obtained her Sixth-Year Certificate in Guidance Counseling. She later transitioned from teaching to the Guidance Department, where she eventually became the Head of Guidance. After 25+ years of dedicated service, she retired to enjoy the next chapter of her life.
Roseann's love of family and friends was immeasurable, and her selflessness unmatched. She lovingly cared for her husband, Nick, from their marriage through his final breath truly living the vow "until death do us part."
In retirement, she filled her days with travel, volunteering at her favorite church, and spending time with family. One fun fact that brought her lifelong pride was that she was the first member of her family to attend and graduate from college, a milestone that her parents celebrated with a party so grand it was said to have had more guests than most weddings.
Roseann lived a life defined by compassion, commitment, and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Nicholas DeCamillo, her sister, Patricia Parker, (Grover "Skip") brother-in-law, Gunnar Montaine, brother, Andrew Concilio (Mabel), and her beloved cousin, SP/4CL James J. Pastore, U.S. Army. Roseann is survived by her sister, Mary Montaine, nephew, and end of life caregiver, Grover Parker III, nieces, Col. (Dr.) Mary Candace Concilio (Ret.), Kathryn R. Rodriguez, and nephew, Richard Concilio. As well as many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT, tomorrow, Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:15 AM and proceed to St. Bridget of Ireland R.C. Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John's R.C. Cemetery, Darien, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral, tomorrow, November 14, 2025, from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM.
