Salvatore Giuliani Obituary

Salvatore S. Giuliani, Sr.
Salvatore S. Giuliani, Sr. (Sam), a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 15, 2025, with his beloved family by his side. Sam was born in Stamford on May 9, 1932, to the late Armando and Lucy (Scalise) Giuliani. Sam was 93 years old at the time of his passing.
Sam is survived by his loving children, son Salvatore S Giuliani, Jr. (Debra), daughter Roseanne Giuliani (Hank), former daughter-in-law Kathy Giuliani; grandchildren John R. Morrison, Jr. (Marianne), Joseph Morrison (Victoria), Vincent Russell, Anthony Russell (Natalia), Rena Wagner (Jason), Matthew Giuliani, Mark Mastandrea, Corinne Saliba; great-grandchildren Hannah, Claire, Magdalena, Gabriel, Salvatore, Isabelle, Mason, Liam and many nieces and nephews.
Sam is predeceased by siblings Achilles (Ike) Guiliani, Victoria Pensiero, Theresa DeBlasi and Armando Giuliani, Jr.
Sam was an icon for many in the City of Stamford. During his years attending Stamford High School, he was a semi-professional fighter and eventually went on to become a professional boxer. He was a local celebrity, and a stablemate of Rocky Marciano, training under the legendary Charley Goldman. After his boxing career, he married his darling Rose, the love of his life, and worked for the City of Stamford as an electronic repairman servicing all the local schools. Upon retirement, he later became a beloved crossing guard on Connecticut Avenue in the West Side for 20 years. The community so loved and appreciated him they held a local street party in his honor and placed a bench with a plaque commemorating his years of service near the location.
Sam spent his last years living with his daughter in Amherst, Ohio. This time brought much joy and laughter to Sam and his daughter at the Memory Café in Elyria and Amherst. We are eternally grateful.
Sam will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving, funny man, who always enjoyed a good cigar and a glass of wine. Salute, Sam!
Family and friends may offer their condolences at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., in Stamford, on Thursday, November 20th from 5PM to 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21st at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. The interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life a Dementia Friendly Foundation, PO Box 117, Oberlin, OH 44074 or online at dflife.org or to the charity of your choice in memory of Sam.

Yesterday

Mr. Giuliani was a giant to me on the Westside. As a young kid living on the westside I would see him daily walking on Schuyler Ave chewing on a cigar as always. He would always take the time to stop and see how my family and I were doing. He would always show me boxing moves and taught me how to throw a punch. A truly wonderful human being. Rest easy Mr. Giuliani.
