Zuberi Ajamu Obituary

ZUBERI ASIM AJAMU - born Jonathan Edward Johnson, entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2006. He was born on February 19, 1955 in Stamford, CT. He graduated from Rippowam High School where he was a star athlete. He was an all county and all state nose guard and a champion wrestler. He also attended and played football for Virginia Union University. Asim, worked for the NYU department of probation for over a decade until diabetes took his eyesight. He was recently residing in Baltimore, MD with his wife Jo-Anne McKinney-Ajamu.

He is survived by his wife Jo-Anne; his mother Lorena Johnson; his son, Bilal Hasan Ajamu; a stepson, Aaron McKinney; two brothers, Carl McKelvy and Kenneth Johnson; four sisters, Ernestine Johnson, Glena Scates, Linda Johnson, Victoria Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Ernest Johnson; his daughter Rhonda Chantel Johnson; his grandson Coran Elijah Johnson; two brothers, Andrew Johnson and Allen Johnson; two sisters, Pat Dickson and Kim Johnson; and one nephew Andrew Dickson.

The family and friends and anyone whom Asim has touched will dearly miss and always remember him.

Memorial Services will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Downer Funeral Home Chapel, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, CT. Arrangements entrusted to Downer Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford, CT.
