Esther Socha Obituary

Esther A. Socha, 80, of Hazleton passed away Wednesday afternoon in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

She was born in Hazleton, daughter of the late John and Anna (Mitchel) Socha. She was a member of the Parish of Ss. Cyril and Methodius at the Church of St. Joseph and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church. Esther was proud of her Polish Heritage.

Prior to retiring, she was a seamstress in the local garment industry. Esther enjoyed her gardening and flowers, was an avid Phillies fan, she loved decorating Christmas trees, family birthday cards that she sent out and had a extensive shoe and purse collection.

Esther is survived by her long-time companion of over 30 years, Andrew Gmitter, McAdoo, and a number of cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the Parish of Ss. Cyril and Methodius at the Church of St. Joseph.

Interment in Calvary Cemetery will follow.

Friends and relatives may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the funeral.

Arrangements under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton.
