Francis Barkus Obituary

Francis J. Barkus, 78, of Hazleton passed away Wednesday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Frank and Ann (Klosick) Barkus. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Westover, Mass. Prior to retiring, he worked as a plumber. Francis was an avid hunter.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his daughter, Rosemarie Horiuchi; and a brother, Robert Barkus and his wife, Ann.

Surviving are his wife, Carole (Pachence) Barkus; sons, Joseph and Steven, Hazleton; son-in-law, Dai Horiuchi, Chicago; brothers, Ronald, Hazleton; Dale, Lewisberry; and Cliford, Hazleton; sister, Martha McColey, Hazleton; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Most Precious Blood Cemetery.

Fierro Funeral Service Inc., Hazleton, is handling the arrangements.
