Frederick Polmounter Obituary

Frederick Christopher Polmounter, 36, of Hazleton, passed away Monday morning at his home.

Born on Dec. 24, 1984, in Hazleton, Fred was a graduate of Bishop Hafey Junior-Senior High School, class of 2003. He was a member of St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham.

Surviving are his parents, Fred Joseph and Mary Ellen (Blasi) Polmounter, Hazleton; sisters, Amy, East Stroudsburg; and Sarah, Sandpoint, Idaho; and brother, Zachary, Philadelphia. Also surviving are his uncle and godfather, the Rev. Richard J. Polmounter; and aunts, Marianne Darrough; and Karen Jost; and many cousins.

Preceding Fred in death are his paternal grandparents, Fred "Fritz" and Catherine "Kay" Polmounter; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Gladys Blasi; and uncle, Jack Hlivia.

Fred was named for his grandfather, "Fritz," because he was the first grandson and they shared a birthday, Christmas Eve.

Fred was employed at the Valley Country Club for 16 years. The Club recently posted the following announcement: "We lost a vital piece of the VCC family today, and we lost the most dedicated worker at the Club." He was known for grilling the perfect steak and his "Freddie" burgers. He took great pride in his work and treasured the friendships he made at the club. Fred loved cooking with his mother, trying new recipes and buying new kitchen gadgets. He had a sweet tooth, especially for his grandmother's chocolate cake. Fred also enjoyed going out to restaurants and trying unusual foods on the menu while his father would ask him, "Why would you order that?"

Fred was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He was always smiling, happy and fun to be around, always willing to go the extra mile to help a friend or family member. Freddie had a great memory that could recall the smallest detail about the past and always kept the family history alive. Anyone who knew Freddie knew he was a huge Eagles fan and supported them win or lose.

The funeral will be held Saturday at St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the viewing from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Drums, at the convenience of the family.

Fierro Funeral Service Inc., Hazleton, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in Freddie's name.
