JoAnn M. Marusak, 78, of Freeland passed away late Sunday evening in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Hazleton, daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Bellum) Matyas. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Freeland.
Prior to retiring she was proprietor of J&J Kitchens.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Harry; and brother, Richard Matyas.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Marusak; children, Joseph Marusak and his fiancée, Marion Ferraiolo, Philadelphia; Michelle Woodring and her husband, John, Drums; Tammy Marusak and her fiancée, Mark Simmons, Freeland; Sherri Lettiere and her husband, Rocco Jr., Sugarloaf Twp.; and Jamie Fredericks and her husband, Erik, Sugarloaf Twp.; brothers and sisters, George Matyas, Hazleton; Louise Skurkey, Conyngham; Patrica Ringlaben and her husband, Raymond, West Hazleton; Joseph Tomashunas and his wife, Karen, Lattimer; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., Hazleton, and are being held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Marys B.C. Church, Freeland, or the Greater Hazleton Area Polonaise Society in JoAnn's memory would be appreciated by the family.
