Joanne Strizak Obituary

Joanne M. Strizak of Hazleton passed away Oct. 15 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

She was the wife of the late Robert P. Strizak.

Born in Hazleton on July 18, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Gilbert McGeehin. Joanne retired from the Hazleton Area School District, where she was a cafeteria employee. She loved camping, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly M. Strizak and her companion, Cory Collins, Rochester, N.Y.; brother, John McGeehin and his wife, Cynde, Herndon, Va.; and sisters, Sharon Gogola, West Hazleton; and Nancy Arendash and her companion, Robert Hummel, Lebanon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Raymond Gogola and James Arendash.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 210 W. Green St., Hazleton. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m.

Interment for close family only will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.
