Lillian Simko, 88, of the Green Ridge section of Hazle Twp. passed away Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
She was born in Crystal Ridge, daughter of the late Michael and Tillie Bunk Skokoski, and resided in Green Ridge, Hazle Twp., for all of her life.
Lillian was a graduate of Hazle Twp. High School, Class of 1952.
She had worked for more than 50 years in the area garment industry as a sewing machine operator and retired from Baron Blouse, Hazleton. Lillian was also a life member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Lillian was also a life member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Church, West Hazleton.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Michael Simko; brothers and sisters, Mary Kozel, Frank and John Skokoski, Annie Macharsky, Sophie Skokoski, Theresa Honis, Veronica Sapala and Betty Skokoski; her nieces, Darlene Macharsky and Linda DeCosmo and her husband, Charles DeCosmo; and her son-in-law, Bernard Tychinski.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Diane Simko, with whom she resided; and Linda Tychinski, Pardeesville; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Courtney Tychinski; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Carter Tychinski; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Lillian was the last surviving member of her parents and siblings.
Our beloved mom has died. Thank you, Mom, for being the most wonderful and beautiful and kind mom that you were. We are so glad you were our mom and we were your daughters. We hope we made you proud to be your daughters until we all meet again in heaven. Your loving daughters Diane and Linda will miss you forever. You were the best mother that daughters could ever have.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Transfiguration Church, West Hazleton. Her public viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Thursday.
Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton.
