Marilyn R. (Slusser)Worek, 76, of Hazle Twp. entered into eternal rest Saturday evening surrounded by family and friends and her home.
She was born in West Hazleton, daughter of the late Elias and Mary (O'Kronley) Slusser. She was a member of the Parish of Ss. Cyril and Methodius at the Church of St. Joseph, where she participated in church activities.
Marilyn was a beautician and owner of her salon which she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement in February.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked cooking and baking at the church, as well as shopping, going out to eat and playing slot machines at the casino. She also loved being with her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dennis J. Worek, in August 2022; and brothers, Stanley, Bruce and Thomas Slusser.
She is survived by her two children, Dennis J. Worek Jr., Hazleton; and Michele Folina and her husband, Matthew, Oakland, N.J.; a brother, Earl Slusser and his wife, Roseann, West Hazleton; two grandchildren, Megan and Mitchell Folina; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, Hazleton.
Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Drums, will follow.
Friends and relatives may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the Mass.
