Mary A. Phillips, 87, of Hazleton passed away Thursday morning in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, following a brief illness.
Born in Hazleton, on July 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Grace (Ferry) Clark and had spent the past 60 years in Hazleton after moving from Jeansville.
Mary was a cafeteria worker for Penn State University, Hazleton; and had also worked at Tung-Sol, Weatherly. She was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf Twp. Mary was an avid sports fan with her favorites being the Philadelphia Phillies and Notre Dame Athletics.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Emery Phillips, in April of 2008; a sister, Ann Ambruch; and brother-in-law, John Ambruch.
Surviving are two children, David Phillips; and Sharon Drumheller; a granddaughter, Kelly Drumheller, all of Hazleton; sister, Patricia Tomko, Weston; brother, Joseph Clark, Tresko; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Bosco R.C. Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf Twp.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Weston.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. until the time of Mass Tuesday at the church.
