Michael J. Gentle, 71, of Drums passed away Friday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Marie (Ford) Gentle and was a member of Good Shepherd Church, Drums.
He was a musician and played with numerous bands throughout the United States, including Jay Black and the Americans, Jay and the Techniques, Autumn and Dr. Smooth. Not only was he a talented musician with the bands, but he could repair anything that came his way.
He was employed by Hazleton Standard Fuel, a family-owned business, for 43 years, where he was a service technician and tractor-trailer driver.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Mary Lou Beckley; sons, Michael John F. Gentle, Kingston; and Nicholas I. Gentle, Drums; brothers, Anthony Gentle and wife, Joanne, Mountain Top; and John Gentle and wife, Lisa, Hazleton; brother-in-law, Jack Beckley and wife, Micki, West Hazleton; and cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Good Shepherd Church.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
