Nadia Lynn Flaim passed away Sunday in Temple University Hospital surrounded by loved ones both near and far, after succumbing to her lengthy battle with addiction.
Born and raised in Hazleton, She was the daughter of Joseph and Julianne (DelBalso) Flaim. Nadia was a 2007 graduate of Hazleton Area High School, where she studied cosmetology, was a member of the Cougars cheerleading squad and made many lifelong friends. Nadia continued to pursue her passions with hair and makeup and attended Metro Beauty Academy, Allentown, where she became an esthetician and cosmetologist. Her career pursuits were never a surprise to her family, considering she loved all things Disney princesses and was her friends stylist from a young age.
Throughout Nadia's life, her big heart, infectious laugh and zest for life would light up any room in which she entered. Whether it was a kind and warm shoulder to cry on, or to share in the many joys of life, Nadia was always looking to connect with and welcome anyone who needed a friend. We are all lucky to have had her in our lives, although shorter than what it should have been. Nadia was a beautiful soul, both inside and out, and she is a testament to the fact that the disease of addiction knows no bounds, does not discriminate and has the ability to wreak havoc in and otherwise beautiful life. The world became a darker and colder place on Sunday evening, but the light that shined in her will always live on through the many lives she touched, good deeds done in her name and the countless memories that will be cherished forever.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Julia DelBalso; and her paternal grandparents, Francis "Nick" and Anna Flaim.
Surviving are her parents, who she loved dearly, Joseph and Julianne Flaim; her brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Karrie Flaim; her nephew and godson, who was her "sunshine through her rain clouds," Max Nicholas Flaim; and her beloved dog, Boomer. Additionally, Nadia is survived by her aunts and uncles, John and Denise Flaim; Judy and David "Uncle Birdie" Calvello; Teresa DelBalso; and Beatrice Jankowski; and Nicola and Geoff Gutgold; along with many cousins and friends.
Nadia was a member of Most Precious Blood Church.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, a celebration of Nadia's life will take place at a later date. A Mass of Christian Burial will be planned at Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Mother of Mercy House, 720 E. Allegheny Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19134.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph B. Conahan Funeral Home Inc., 532 N. Vine St., Hazleton.

I had the honor and privilege to be one of Nadia’s Behavioral Health Techs at Destination Hope a few years ago where we instantly bonded. Her infectious laughter and sweetness were like no other. I will always remember her willingness to fight the disease of addiction, and I know she was successful at times. My heart is broken over her loss and I extend my sympathy to her parents that she adored. May she rest in peace
