Paul James "PJ" Lieb III, 40, passed away late Friday in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of complications from COVID-19.
Born in Hazleton on Dec. 30, 1980, he was a son of Paul James II and Mary Ellen (Jarrett) Lieb, of Hazle Twp.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Paul James and Fortunata "Fanny" (Sacco) Lieb; and his maternal grandfather, Jack Jarrett.
Paul graduated from Hazleton Area High School in 1999 and later studied at Luzerne County Community College.
For many years, he was employed locally as a manager in telecommunications sales and was presently employed at KPLR Consulting of Hazleton.
"PJ" was a kind, fun-loving man who always wore an infectious smile, loved his family dearly and enjoyed socializing with his friends. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, as well as a car and motorcycle enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Christopher Lieb and his fiancée, Tory Price, Sugarloaf Twp.; a niece, Lila Lieb; his fiancée and soulmate, Julie Novy, with whom he was expecting his first daughter; and Julie's son, Greyson, who lovingly called him "Dude"; as well as his maternal grandparents, Anthony F. and Rita (Kassick) Liene, Hazle Twp.
A memorial visitation will be held this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Butler Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 530 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Per "PJ"'s family's request, all COVID-19 restrictions will apply.
Religious services and final disposition will be held privately at the family's convenience.

R.I.P. PJ. We looked at the world through different eyes, but I knew you were a kind, compassionate, thoughtful, self-less soul, who cared deeply about those he loved. I say a prayer for Lil man and his mother daily, for them to heal quickly from their loss.

Rest in peace PJ. You were my best friend growing up. We used to have our birthday parties together because your birthday was the day after mine. My greatest childhood memories were with you. May your family find comfort, and peace during this very difficult time. You will be missed!!!
