Theresa Maria "Terry" Bowser, 75, of Drums passed away Sunday at her home following a 3½-year battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton on Sept. 30, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Delese) Chakan and spent her entire life in the Hazleton area.
Theresa was a 1963 graduate of Hazleton High School. She attended airline school in St. Louis, Mo., and Penn State University. She was hired as a civilian office employee by the Pennsylvania State Police in January 1968. She was known for her job knowledge, sunny disposition and ladylike demeanor. She retired from PSP on July 10, 1998, with her entire career at Troop N headquarters in Hazleton.
She was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf Twp. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.
Surviving are her husband, Owen B. Bowser, to whom she was married on May 5, 1995; a sister, Carol Veglia and her husband, Richard, Hazleton; a brother, John Chakan, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Terry's wonderful, knowledgeable and compassionate nurse, Laina Wilkinson.
Her funeral will be held privately from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco R.C. Church, 573 state Route 93, Sugarloaf Twp.
Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
