Arlene Dyer Obituary
A longtime resident of the Horseheads community passed away peacefully on Sun. May 5, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital following declining health at the age of 87, with family at her side.
Arlene was born on January 3, 1926 in Jeruselum Center, NY daughter of Howard & Leah Elizabeth Corwin Turner. She was married to Howard R. Dyer on April 20, 1947 at the First Baptist Church of Elmira. Early in their marriage, Howard and Arlene operated Howie's Taxi and then the Howard Dyer Nationwide Insurance Agency. Howard predeceased her on December 28, 1998 following fifty one years of marriage. Arlene was a homemaker taking great pride in her home. In recent years, Arlene was at home at St. Joseph's Hospital SNF, enjoying the loving care, activities and entertainment and companions there.
She will be missed by her loving family, sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce & Patricia Dyer, Horseheads; and Steven & Billie Jo Dyer, Beaver Dams; grandchildren, Jacqueline (William) Morley, Stephanie Dyer, Cory (Hilarie) Dyer and Jamie ( AJ) Parsons great grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Amanda and Samantha Morley; Gavin and Keira Dyer and Hayden Parsons. a sister-in-law, Erma Turner; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was predeceased by her sister, Martha & Arthur Searle and brother, Wendell Turner. All services were held privately.
Arlene's family wishes to thank Dr. Schiavone and the staff St. Joseph's 5th floor skilled nursing unit and her guardian angel, Mary for their loving care and kindness shown to Arlene and her family, and request memorials be directed to the St. Joseph's Hospital SNF 5th Floor, 555 St. Joseph's Blvd. Elmira, NY 14901 in Arlene's memory.

Condolences to the family.What a woman of valor she was. Even in moments of distress she gave a smile, a positive comment and a presence no one else can ever match.You were all so blessed as she loved all of you and she beamed when she talked about any of you. I was priviledged to know her and will miss her deeply.
